The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), an organization that purports to give African Americans solid, legitimate political representation on Capitol Hill by “positively influencing the course of events pertinent to African Americans and others of similar experience and situation”, and “achieving greater equity for persons of African descent in the design and content of domestic and international programs and services,” overwhelmingly voted AGAINST a measure that would have helped de-militarize police departments across the nation.
This past June, Rep. Alan Grayson, (D-Fla) introduced an amendment to halt the Pentagon’s 1033 Program, which provides millions of dollars in military-grade weapons and equipment to local police forces, on an annual basis.
Out of the CBC’s 41 voting members, only seven voted in favor of a measure that would have stripped local police departments of the tools they use to help beat law-abiding Black citizens (folks who have just as much right to go un-harassed as any white person ever has) into submission, whenever they need to be reminded of their second-class status. (You can view the full list of voters and how they voted, here.)
Some have called it a crisis of Black leadership, in which African Americans are subjected to “…[A] leadership class who[se] loyalties are as vague and ambiguous as the terms they use to describe us and our communities.”
I guess others would refer to it as a crisis of Black leadership consciousness, were it not for myriad Negro politicians who seem to take their cues DIRECTLY from the White Supremacist playbook. Using their newly elected positions to wreak havoc on the very constituency responsible for their election to public office, these Benedict Negro politicians are MORE concerned with the pretense of advocacy than they are with doing actual advocacy work.
In fact, it would seem most of these BUCK DANCING TRAITORS prefer it that way; knowing so much of the African American voting bloc is charmed by flash and fairy glamour, most of them don’t bother getting their hands dirty, because they know they don’t have to.
They also know we’ll go into “apologist mode”, and will come up with umpteen reasons to excuse their inexcusable behavior.
That the CBC voted against Rep. Grayson’s amendment, yet has the nerve to use Ferguson/Mike Brown as a rallying cry for the votes they and the rest of the Democratic Party need to save their asses from the slaughterhouse, come November is SICK.
And WE ALL should be sick of THEM.
Some of us already are. The rest of us – the ones who look, yet refuse to see – will be figuring out ways to avoid holding these Janus-faced reprobates accountable for their behavior.
Negroes who say they’re down for their People may not all be lying, but they’re not all telling the truth, either.
That writing’s been on the wall for a very long time.
